Asthma Appointments

Asthma appointments are avaiable in nurse sessions. We have the facilities to monitor your asthma control and give you up-to-date advice on the best treatment. On your repeat prescription you may be invited to the asthma clinic for your annual medication review.

Cardiovascular Appointments

Cardiovascular appointments are available in nurse clinics for monitoring patients with heart disease, stroke and TIA. You may receive an invitation to attend an annual review. It is important to attend your appointment to make sure we have you on the best possible treatment for your condition.

Citizens Advice Bureau

We are very fortunate to have Will from the CAB. He is available to our registered patients on the last Wednesday of each month for advice on benefits, housing etc. Appointments can be booked through reception.

Counselling

Talking therapies are provided via a referral to the IAPT team and you will be allocated to one of the counsellors.

Diabetic Appointments

Diabetic appointments are available in nurse clinics. You may receive an invitation to attend for an annual review. It is important to attend your appointment as good diabetic control reduces the likelihood of health complications.

District Nursing

Our district nursing service is available to help patients who need nursing assistance at home. The service can be accessed through the hospital or your doctor.

Family Planning

We offer a full range of family planning options including coil fitting, implants and emergency contraception. Please let the receptionist know if you need emergency contraception, as we will try to fit you in as soon as possible. All our staff have been trained in maintaining confidentiality, including under 16s.

We have a dedicated smear clinic with one of our nurses. Free confidential chlamydia screening is available on request to all under-25s. Please ask your doctor or nurse for details, or pick up a self-test kit in reception or patient toilets.

Health Visitor

Our Health Visitors are able to advise on the healthcare needs of many patients, including new mothers, young children and the elderly. They are involved in screening and immunisations and can advise on smoking cessation. They are based at Wilmslow Clinic and the telephone number is 01625 441197

Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy

We are no longer able to offer hypnotherapy or psychotherapy but can refer you for counselling.

Midwifery

A team who are associated with Macclesfield Hospital provides our midwifery service. There is no need to see your GP, you can book directly with the midwife when you find out you are pregnant. The midwives manage most of our antenatal care in conjunction with the GPs and Hospital Antenatal Departments.

Minor Surgery

Dr Thompson runs a minor surgery clinic in the practice for the treatment of minor surgical conditions. You may be referred by your GP. It helps avoid a long wait for hospital treatment for low priority conditions.

Travel Clinic

Sister Fitzpatrick runs a Travel Clinic once a week. She will use up-to-date information to assess your healthcare needs whilst abroad. Please allow 6-8 weeks before you travel as some vaccinations and malaria prophylaxis regimes need to be started several weeks before you travel. We regret that we are unable to give travel advice over the phone, as we need to go through your health history, past vaccinations and full travel itinerary with you in person.
